Google is preparing to add a new feature called Wildfire layer to Google Maps, which includes information about wildfires.
- The Google map navigation service will be updated soon, with a layer of information on forest fires based on satellite data.
- The facility, called the Wildfire layer, will collect information on areas where wildfires are occurring and how far it has spread, as well as information on emergency telephone numbers and websites where information on such fires can be obtained.
- Areas where wildfires are spreading will be highlighted in red, and tapping on that area will provide information about it, and the uniqueness of this feature is that it will provide information on wildfires that occur in several places on the map itself.
- Users will also be able to see when the information was last updated, and those who know about it will be able to share the information on the map for the accuracy of the data.
- Also, based on satellite data, the information will be added to the map by identifying areas where temperatures are rising and areas that are becoming high risk areas as a result.
- While the United States currently has priority for only a few countries, such as Australia, Google is looking forward to extending this feature to other countries in the future.
- The feature will be available to Android users and later iOS users by next week.
