The Managing Director of TRCSL explains the Night Time Data provided by the telephone companies
- Oshadha Senanayake, Managing Director of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) said at a press conference today that his company has not approved the allocation of data packages for night time and day time.
- He points out that the telephone companies did just that, and that Night time data is actually free data that comes with an Anytime data package, and that the companies have not yet charged for it.
- He said that due to this false propaganda by the telephone companies, a large number of complaints regarding Night Data are being received from the consumers.
- However, this will not be of any special benefit to the customer and will only change the advertisements on the relevant packages.
- For example: A package that offers 750MB Day / 750MB Night data size is currently marketed as 1.5GB, but in the future it will have to be changed to 750MB.
- Accordingly, when you buy a 750MB (Anytime Data) package for Rs. 100, you have to mention in the advertisements that you will get another 750MB (Night Time Data) for free.
- However, it should be noted that the telephone companies have not yet commented on this matter.
